The Mandurah Island Challenge is a community-based sports event offering athletic and kayaking events for all age groups and ability levels. Now approaching its seventh year, the event is well established on the local sporting calendar, attracting around 1,000 athletes in each year's event.
This year's Mandurah Island Challenge will take place on 24 March 2013 and is again sponsored by ALCOA - long-time sponsors of the Peel Health Foundation.
Events include the 6.5km fun run/walk and two kayak events, and the 2.5km schools fun run/walk. Following its success in 2012, the 2.5km Seniors Walk is again included in the programme, alongside the 2.5km schools event, and using the same course. A 6.5km Bike Ride is again included, run in conjunction with the annual Bike Week. This uses the same route as the 6.5km fun run/walk, but is run in advance of the run/walk event.
In addition, an optional event will be a water-based "Splash & Dash" event run by the Just-4-Fun Aqua Park alongside the Start/Finish Arch.
This year, the longer of the two kayak events will be over an 11km course instead of the previous 14km course.
With unparalleled waterways, beaches and natural environment, the Mandurah estuary offers an ideal setting for the event, which is complimented by a range of race day activities for participants as well as their family and friends.
Founded by the Peel Health Foundation as a means of raising much-needed funds to address the present and future health needs of the Peel region, the Alcoa Mandurah Island Challenge is well-supported by the Mandurah community and will continue to gain prominence in the future.

EXHIBITOR VILLAGE
Local community agencies and businesses are invited to be part of the annual Alcoa
Mandurah Island Challenge – Exhibitor Village to promote healthy lifestyle strategies to the
community.
This year the Village is being sponsored by the Peel Health Campus Community Fund.
